Function of a double membrane gas holder:
The outer membrane is the protection layer and is always under pressure which is necessary for the static. In the outer membrane is an inspection window integrated to check the processes inside at any time. The useful storage is the inner membrane. This membrane moves up and down in accordance to the filling level of the gas. If the gas holder is mounted on a concrete foundation there is a bottom membrane which seals the gas storage to the foundation. The connection of those three membranes to the foundation is made with a clamping ring.
Every gas holder will be calculated with its own specifications (e.g. snow load, wind load, operating pressure,…) consequential arises different strength of the membranes. The membrane is made of PVC coated polyester fabrics, both side with finisher and softener, UV-protected, fungicide treated, flame retardant according DIN 4102 B1, to protect for the components, which are in the biogas (methane, hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide etc.) the inner and the bottom membrane are treated with a special coating.
A separate gas charge and discharge pipe is standard to ensure an optimal gas mixing in the storage. A safety valve against overpressure is also in the standard delivery.
The air blower provides the essential pressure for the gas holder to observe the external forces like snow- and wind loads and produces the pressure to the gas system. A separately air hose connects the gas holder with the air blower. A non return valve protects the gas holder against loosing air in case of power failure. A second valve, the pressure regulating valve, protects the gas holder against overpressure on air side. This valve checks permanently the air pressure (operating pressure) and closes automatically in case of power failure. This system keeps the gas holder in static if in the same time is a gas production.
The filling level sensor enables a maximum utilisation of the storage volume for the adjustment of the following devices to use your gas holder as well as possible. In according to this is also possible to use all following parts (e.g. gas torch, power generator,…) of your plant also as well as possible.
